William J. Pronzato, 92, of Harleysville, formerly of Flourtown, passed away on December 29, 2017. He was the beloved husband of 69 years of Irene (Chabalko) and the loving father of Francine Stefany (Ron) of Lancaster, Bill (Carol) of Warrington and Maribeth Lyle (Trevor) of Harleysville. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Laura (Stefany) Hettinger, Marisa (Stefany) Hollencamp, Michael Pronzato and Phillip Lyle, and four great-grandchildren, Hannah and Cole Hettinger, and Evie and Braylen Hollencamp. He was preceded in death by a sister, Martha (Cryan) and a brother, Alex. Born on February 5, 1925 in Philadelphia, Bill was the loving son of the late Louis and Frances Pronzato. He was a graduate of Germantown High School and Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science. Bill was a long time community pharmacist in Chestnut Hill, Erdenheim and later in Wyndmoor. He was member and past President of the Montgomery County Pharmaceutical Association and a member of the Pennsylvania Pharmaceutical Association. Bill was awarded the Pennsylvania Pharmaceutical Association’s Pharmacist of the Year in 1986. For many years, Bill was an active member of St. Genevieve’s Church in Flourtown and served as lector and Eucharistic Minister. He was also a member of the Strollo Lodge Order Sons of Italy, Men of Malvern, Knights of Columbus, VFW Post 7919 Wyndmoor and Battle of the Bulge Association. Bill was a proud World War II Army Veteran, having served under General George S. Patton as Corporal in the European Theatre in the Third Army, 6th Battalion, 33rd Artillery Division. He landed on Normandy Beach Day 5. He received five combat stars, including Normandy and The Ardennes: Battle of the Bulge. He enjoyed gardening, sports, golfing, traveling, singing, dancing and the big band music of the 1940’s. Bill’s Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Genevieve’s Church, 1225 Bethlehem Pike, Flourtown, PA. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Church from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Interment will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Genevieve’s Church at the address listed above.
