William J. Dempsey

William J. Dempsey, age 89, of Lafayette Hill, PA, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2019. Born and raised in Mahanoy Township (Jacksons, PA), he attended Mahanoy Township High School, graduating with the Class of 1948. After marrying his beloved wife, the late June G. Dempsey, the two spent the majority of their 52-year marriage in Delran, New Jersey, where Bill held an administrative position at the Philadelphia Naval Base for over 30 years.    Bill is survived by his daughter Kathleen A. Schugsta (Owen) and granddaughter Anna Dolan Schugsta, his siblings-in-law Warren and Nona Dolan, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, John and Joseph Dempsey, and his sisters, Helen Brylewski (Leonard) and Rosemary John (the late Edward). Relatives and friends are invited to the viewing Friday, November 15, 2019, from 10:30-11:00 am at St. Teresa of Calcutta Church, 600 W. Mahanoy St., Mahanoy City, PA 17948. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am, with interment immediately following at St. Canicus Cemetery, Mahanoy City, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Bill’s name to St. Genevieve School, 1237 Bethlehem Pike, Flourtown, PA 19031.
