Virginia Maria Verrecchia entered eternal life on October 9, 2021. She is preceded in death by her parents, Josephine and James Verrecchia. She is survived by her sister, Angela, her brother, Jim (Jaime) and his wife, Nancy and nieces and nephews, Stephen and Joseph Verrecchia, Katie Lambert, Mary-Ryan Lambert, J Hunter Lambert, and Suzanne Lambert. Virginia was born and raised in Philadelphia and attended Holy Child Elementary School (1960) and Little Flower High School (1964). Virginia entered the Sisters of St. Joseph in 1964 and received the religious habit and name, Sr. James Joseph in 1965. As a religious sister, she served the communities at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Maple Shade, NJ; Immaculate Heart of Mary, High Point, NC; Stella Maris, Philadelphia and Sacred Heart, Royersford, PA. She professed her solemn vows in 1972 at Mount Saint Joseph Convent, Chestnut Hill and is a 1973 graduate of Chestnut Hill College. In 1975, her religious calling transitioned and she began work with the Unemployment Division of the Pennsylvania Department of Labor in Pennsylvania and later became a real estate agent working in the Ocean City, NJ area. In 1988, Virginia became a co-owner and later sole owner of A La Mode Ice Cream parlor in Ocean City as well as the founder and owner of J & J’s Pizza Plus. Visitation will take place at 6 PM and the Eucharistic Liturgy will be celebrated at 7 PM on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at 7 PM at. St. Genevieve Catholic Church, 1225 Bethlehem Pike, Flourtown, PA 19031. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Genevieve Church, St. Jude's Research Hospital for Children, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
