Robert (Bob) Jack Mayes, of Collegeville, PA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 22, 2021, at the age of 77. Bob is survived by his wife of 37 years, Christine Mayes, his daughter Meredith Mayes (wife, Marie), son William Mayes (wife, Debbie), sister Sonya Martin, nephew and niece, Daniel Martin (Louise) and Emily Thomas (Stuart), as well as two granddaughters and several great grandchildren. In addition, Bob leaves behind his best girl, Jersey Girl (Golden Retriever pup). Born and raised in Essex, England, Bob charmed his American counterparts with his British accent. Bob played professionally for the Essex County Cricket Club, and remained an avid fan of the sport his whole life. He came to the United States in 1976, where he met and later married Christine in 1984. He became a citizen of the US in November of 1994, something he always considered a great honor. Prior to moving to Pennsylvania, Bob and Christine lived in Newton, NJ where they both were members of the Yellow Frame Presbyterian Church and community. Bob was an enthusiastic participant in the church choir along side his daughter, Meredith. He was also a numbers man, being a CPA by trade. He spent many years of his career, working at Intercar in Newton, and it was not the job he cherished most, but the lasting friendships and memories he’d made there. A loving husband, father, brother, and uncle; Bob was also a friend to all who met him. Remembered for his caring and warm nature, Bob had this uncanny ability to carry on conversation with an old friend or new acquaintance. He will forever remain in our hearts. Relatives and friends are invited for visitation at John F. Murray Funeral Home on Saturday, August 28, 2021 from 1 P.M. to 3 P.M. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at 3PM at Yellow Frame Presbyterian Church 1 Yellow Frame Road Fredon Township, NJ 07860.
