Richard Alan Byrd, born in Charleston, Illinois on November 24th, 1950, passed away on November 23rd, 2022, in his home in North Wales, PA. Rick was born to Robert and Eileen Byrd and was raised in Charleston, Illinois. He attended Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Illinois. His degree in business and marketing found success in sales. His sales career introduced him to many interesting people and places. He loved to travel and had a great love affair with the outdoors. He was an eight-time marathon runner, skied, golfed, and loved camping, especially in the Shenandoah National Park along the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia. Rick is survived by his wife, Pam, and his best canine companion Daisy Mae, his brother Robert (Penny) Byrd. His greatest joy was being a dad to children Mary Elizabeth (Christopher) Curl, and Katherine Anne (Scott Thaller) Byrd. His three grandchildren Nathan, Jessica, and Emma were his pride and joy. His small family grew overnight when he met Pam. He went from one brother to an additional nine sisters and brothers, and he was Uncle Rick to many nieces and nephews. The family is forever grateful for all the support and surrounding love in his last month with us. Rick requested a simple service which will take place on December 1st, 2022 at John F Murray Funeral Home 1220 Bethlehem Pike Flourtown, PA 19031. A visitation will be held from 10-11AM and the service will begin at 11AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the National Park Service Shenandoah: nps.gov/shen/index.htm
