Paul C. Tranfield passed away peacefully on his 79th birthday on May 1, 2023. He was born in London, England to Clifford and Phyllis (Lowen) Tranfield. He is survived by his loving daughter Kelly DiMaria(Phil), and his grandchildren Joseph and Devan. Paul is the brother of Colin(Evelyn), Barry(Linda),and Noreen Whitney. He is also survived by his former wife Bridget Tranfield and his longtime partner Barbara Panzano.
Paul emigrated to the United States in 1963 after an apprenticeship at the Dorchester Hotel in London. He was a classically trained chef who worked in several local kitchens in downtown Philadelphia and the surrounding suburbs throughout his 40-year career. In 1991 he realized his dream, opening his own establishment, Tranfield’s in Erdenheim PA, which was later renamed Fingers.
Paul was a very loving, caring and compassionate man. Always smiling, and having a kind word, he was a joy to be around. He enjoyed traveling with his partner Barbara, going to the racetrack to play the ponies, and enjoyed playing the lottery. Paul loved soccer, especially his team Arsenal and watching golf.
Paul’s pride and joy were his daughter and his grandchildren. He was a doting Pop Pop and spent as much time as he could with them going to the beach, Phillies Spring Training, and their scholastic and athletic events. Paul was a total gentleman, and he will be sadly missed.
