Margaret LaMassa of Flourtown died on July 30, 2019 at Springfield Residences in Wyndmoor. Peggy was born on August 26, 1927 to Edward and Beatrice (McGuire) Reilly. She grew up in Westchester County, NY. Following graduation from high school, Peggy attended St. Agnes Hospital School of Nursing in Philadelphia. She was proud to be a Registered Nurse and had a long career until her retirement from Chestnut Hill Hospital. Peggy married Frank S. LaMassa on November 5, 1949. He predeceased her on April 2, 1991. She was also predeceased by her siblings Therese, Edward, Beatrice, and Patricia, and she is survived by her sister Cleo and many nieces and nephews. Peggy had many and varied interests. She loved travel, current events and reading, especially poetry. As part of her Irish heritage, she embossed and lettered beautiful calligraphy on St. Patrick's Day cards for her friends and family. She was extremely devoted to Mother Teresa and her Missionaries of Charity, and spent countless hours volunteering at their shelter in Philadelphia. She also worked at Mother Teresa's Home for the Dying in Calcutta, India. Peggy was a beautiful soul with a sparkling Irish wit and an insatiable love for all humanity. She will be greatly missed. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, August 5th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Genevieve Church, 1225 Bethlehem Pike, Flourtown, PA. Relatives and friends are invited to call from 9-10 a.m. at the church. Interment will be held on Tuesday, August 6th at 11:30 a.m. at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY.
