Kevin J. O'Rourke

June 24, 1948 — January 29, 2025

Kevin J. O'Rourke, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and dedicated member of his community, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on June 24, 1948, in Philadelphia, PA, Kevin was a proud resident of Flourtown, PA. He served his country honorably in the United States Air Force, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant before being discharged in 1972. Following his military service, Kevin embarked on a distinguished career in law enforcement, where he earned the respect of his peers as a detective.

Family was at the heart of Kevin's life. He is survived by his devoted wife, Eileen McLaughlin O'Rourke, and their three children, Kelly, Brendan, and Kevin, along with daughter-in-law Sarah. His legacy carries on through his grandchildren, Annie, Colin and Leah, who were the pride and joy of his life. Kevin was an active supporter of his children's and grandchildren's passions, attending countless sporting events, plays, dance recitals and special celebrations with unwavering enthusiasm. He coached basketball and participated in the Big Brothers program, demonstrating his commitment to helping others.

Kevin loved his Philadelphia sports teams, especially the Eagles and the Phillies. Let's not forget his trips to South Bend in a Winnebago to cheer on Notre Dame football. It's easy to picture him at the Outer Banks, where he enjoyed the beach with a cigar in one hand and a Corona in the other and a pretzel rod with easy cheese in his third hand. Sometimes he got up from the chair to throw some horseshoes, still with a beer in his left hand. As one of the world's top ten crooners, Kevin was always known to take over the microphone and entertain everyone, whether at Kelly's wedding, his 50th wedding anniversary, St. Paddy's Day parties, family parties, and places that no one else would have thought "this is the time to sing". He also loved going for a drive while smoking a cigar and listening to Frank Sinatra, never digitally, always CDs. We would be remiss if we did not mention Jocks N' Jugs: a yearly and monumental event where Kevin, Eileen, and all their great friends basically got to act like kids for the weekend in fun, competitive, creative sports and interesting challenges. We know Kevin's best friend would be honored to know that Kevin and other friends kept the tradition of going to lunch together at Halligan's every first Thursday of the month. It was and is aptly named "The Al Bergin Lunch."

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during public visiting hours at St. Genevieve Church on Monday February 3, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and again on Tuesday February 4, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, followed by a Mass at 10:00 AM. Kevin's spirit, marked by love, laughter, and a zest for life, will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. His memory will continue to inspire and uplift those who had the privilege of sharing in his journey.

Kevin was preceded in death by his parents Joseph O'Rourke and Margaret White and siblings Joseph O'Rourke, Tracy Hetrick, and Patty Martin. He is survived by his sisters Rosie, Maureen (Boccella), Peggy and Judy as well as nieces and nephews Marnie, Lauren, Bridget, Meghan, Cathleen, Christen, Patrick, Maggie, Colleen, Erin, Sean and Megan.
