John J Dobson

John J. Dobson passed away peacefully on his 90th birthday, August 18, 2024, in his home in Oreland, PA. Born and raised in Philadelphia, John remained a proud Philadelphian throughout his life.

John attended North Catholic High School in Philadelphia and earned his BSEE, from Villanova University, and his MSEE and MBA from Drexel University. He began his career at Honeywell and later co-founded PDI in Plymouth Meeting, PA, with his brother Charles.

Outside of his professional life, John was a lifelong gemologist, and an avid collector of rocks and minerals. John was an avid reader, particularly of fiction and science fiction. He was also known for his love of socializing, frequently gathering with friends, his presence will be sorely missed.

John was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joan Dobson, who passed away in 2022, and his siblings, Charles, Rita, and Mary. John was also predeceased by their beloved grandson, Gage.

He is survived by his children: John J. Dobson (Jack), Robert Dobson (Bob), William Dobson (Bill), and Joanne Adkins. He was also a beloved grandfather to Ashton, Jake, Kerri, Craig, Zach, Henry, and Billy.

A private Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Martyrs Church.
