Jimmy “Reds” Halligan was born on April 14, 1966. He lived his entire life in Oreland, Pennsylvania and died suddenly at age 53 on May 7, 2019. He was born in Philadelphia to Teresa and Ed Halligan as their seventh son. He is survived by his six older brothers, Edward, Joseph, Robert, Thomas, John and Michael Halligan along with his sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Jimmy and his brothers are known for their participation in Springfield sports over the years, where Jimmy created life-long friends as the self- proclaimed “Mayor of Oreland.” Jimmy met the love of his life, Missy, as a bartender at Halligan’s Pub in April 2000. The love they shared was a beautiful rainbow that came at the perfect time for both of them. Jimmy and Missy were married on November 22, 2003 where he also gained his cherished step-daughters, Gena and Kara. In the following year, Jimmy and Missy were blessed with a son of their own, Little Jimmy. He and his family lived in the heart of Oreland where they celebrated holidays and enjoyed relaxing weekends with each other. Jimmy also loved his walks with his dog, Floyd. He is survived by his beloved wife, Missy, his son, Jimmy and his two step-daughters Gena and Kara. Reds was known to always have a smile on his face. He would have greeted you with a friendly smile everywhere from little league games, to the Oreland Market, to a wave from his front lawn. We know he was able to “die happy” after celebrating both an Eagles Championship parade and Phillies World Series parade with his family. We will be celebrating his bright spirit and contagious “jocularity” during a viewing Sunday, May 12th from 7-9PM at St. Genevieve’s Church 1225 Bethlehem Pike Flourtown, PA 19031. Another viewing will be held Monday, May 13th 9:00-10:30am also at the church. Funeral Mass to follow Monday at 10:30am. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the education fund established for Jimmy Halligan at https://go.fidelity.com/358m5 , the American Heart Association or Gift of Life Donor Program.
