Florence Ann Crawford (nee Kettell), predeceased by her husband, Bernard, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2020. She rejoined her siblings, Edward, Mary, Hilda, Mary, Theresa, and Michael. Florence was the model mother to her eight children, Richard “Butchie” Jumper (Sharon), Theresa Phillips (Bob), Bernadette Quigley (Bob), Kathleen Graber, Debra Hubbard (the late Fred), the late Patrick, Susan Rios (Ray), and John (Gina). She is survived by many nieces and nephews and loved to brag about her 37 grandchildren and 68 great-grandchildren. Florence was born in Duryea, PA, and lived her childhood in Pittston, Pa. but moved to Philadelphia at the age of 14, where she graduated from Simon Gratz High School. After high school, Florence worked as a welder during World War II. She briefly returned to the Wilkes Barre area, but later moved back to Philadelphia permanently. She met her beloved husband, Bernie, at Stenton Lanes, where she worked as a waitress and he as a pinsetter. They would go on to marry and raise their children in the Germantown section of Philadelphia. Florence also worked as a waitress at Gilda’s Restaurant in Germantown, where she met her lifelong friends, Alice Brenner and the late Pat Morris. Her love for cooking and shopping would lead her to her ultimate job at the Blossom Tree Restaurant inside Clover department store. After retiring from Clover, Florence enjoyed her most prized job, and that was the role of Grandmom. Florence loved all 37 grandchildren and 68 great-grandchildren and considered their spouses to be her grandchildren as well. She loved nothing more than a cozy, crowded home for Christmas dinner with her family. Whether you called her Mom, Gram, Flo, Floss, Turnsy, Honey, or Mrs. “C”, one thing was constant and that was that everyone who came within her path knew just how truly amazing she was.
