Edward Albert Rodzewich, affectionately known as Ed, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2024, in Dresher, Pennsylvania, surrounded by his loved ones. Born on February 19, 1935, in Freeland, PA, Ed dedicated his life to his family, career, and passions, leaving a profound legacy behind.
With a remarkable career spanning 50 years, Ed was a well-respected chemist who profoundly impacted the automotive industry through his primary research. He began his professional journey at Amchem in Amber and subsequently worked with respected organizations such as Henkel, Betz, Hercules, and GE. Through his ingenuity, Ed held an impressive 18 patents in the field of Chemistry, a testament to his dedication and excellence.
Ed's educational foundation was laid at Saint Joseph's College, where he graduated in 1956 with a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry. Throughout his life, he remained a quiet man, known for his dry sense of humor that brought joy to those around him. Ed was dependable and generous, always exemplifying frugality without ever being cheap.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Ed cherished the bright memories he created with his family. Summer road trips to Maine with his loving wife, children, and faithful dog stood out as some of his fondest experiences. He reveled in gathering his family around the radio to listen to Radio Mystery Theater and took great delight in providing his children with special treats like spruce gum.
Ed had a variety of interests that enriched his life. He was a baseball star in high school and proudly represented his company as part of the Amchem golf team. In his later years, he found joy in walking his dogs at Militia Hill Park and spent countless hours gardening, sharing the fruits of his labor with family and friends. Puzzles and classic Westerns filled his leisure time, reflecting his diverse and engaging spirit.
He leaves behind a loving family, including his devoted wife, Maryanne (Med) Rodzewich, his cherished children: Carl (Susan), William, Jane (Bob Foley), Claire (Mark Gray), Thomas, Edward, his 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Ed is preceded in death by his parents, William Rodzewich, Mary Zaludzewich and 8 siblings. His legacy will endure through the memories and love he imparted to those fortunate enough to know him.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the viewing on November 12, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at St. Genevieve Church, located at 1225 Bethlehem Pike, Flourtown, PA 19031. A Mass celebrating Ed's life will follow at 10:00 AM, concluding at 11:00 AM. Ed's impact on the lives of those around him will forever be remembered, and his gentle spirit will be greatly missed.
