Daniel P. Sweeney of Philadelphia, PA, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2024, just 6 days before his 74th birthday. Dan grew up on Spring Garden Street in the Fairmount Section of Philadelphia. After attending St. Francis Xavier Elementary School, Dan continued in the family tradition of attending St. Joseph’s Preparatory School set by his father, Charles, a Prep grad in the Class of 1922. Dan graduated with the Class of 1968. He finished his studies at The University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, MN, where he graduated with a B.A. degree in 1972.
Dan’s career was centered in industrial management: Beginning as a production supervisor, Philadelphia Glass Bending Company, Philadelphia, and ending with his retirement as a warehouse manager for A. Duie Pyle Inc., a well-known trucking and warehousing company in West Chester, PA.
Dan was the youngest of the seven Sweeney siblings and was predeceased by his parents Regina (Ashe) and Charles W. Sweeney, Sr., sisters Regina Clemens Cummins, Regina Pape and brothers John Sweeney and Charles Sweeney, Jr. Dan leaves his sisters Judith Riley and Mary Clare Hogan as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Services and interment will be held privately.
