Charles J. Smith, of Flourtown, passed away August 27th, 2017. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late William P. Smith and Helen V. (nee Hollahan) Smith. Charlie proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1954-1958. From 1959 to 1981 Charlie was Owner/Operator of several Service Stations in both Germantown, PA and Southern Jersey. After managing the Texaco Service Station at Chew & Washington Lane in Germantown, Charlie became the Owner/Operator in the early 90’s. The title was changed to Quaker City Texaco and ran as a 24 hour gas station with repair and towing until he retired in 2004. From 2004 until present Charlie has worked for various local car dealerships performing Dealer Trades. Charlie will be sadly missed by his wife Helen M. (nee Ziegler) Smith. Father of Theresa A. Fetko, Deborah L. Schmidt (Paul), and the late Mark J. Martino. Grandfather of Lauren M. Wise (Robert), Brittany J. Schmidt, Jessica L. Schmidt, Joseph Fetko and James Fetko. Great Grandfather of Teagan M. Wise and Kinley I. Wise. Brother of William Smith, Robert Smith and Patricia Diamond. Charlie will be fondly remembered by his five nieces and their families. Funeral Service in memory of Charles will be held at 11 o’clock on Saturday, September 16th 2017 at the John F. Murray Funeral Home located at 1220 Bethlehem Pike Flourtown, PA 19031 with Rev. Kenneth P Hallahan officiating. Military Burial at Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown, PA to take place at a later date.
