Catherine Anna Rizzo (nee Laky) of Flourtown, Pennsylvania, passed peacefully on November 9, 2022. Born March 4, 1928 to Joseph J. and Elizabeth Laky of Philadelphia, Catherine was the youngest of 11 children. As a young woman, she worked at her parent’s restaurant, Laky’s, on Stenton Avenue in Philadelphia, and after graduating from Little Flower High School, she also worked as a switchboard operator and billing clerk for Bell Telephone. Catherine met her future husband, Anthony, when they were teenagers, and after he was discharged from the US Marines in 1949, they were married the following June. After the untimely death of Anthony in 1961, Catherine raised their four children and eventually went back to work, working as a clerk for the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare, and as a cashier. Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony (‘Tony’), and daughter Dolores (‘Dee’) Ogden (2005). Survived by daughter Catherine (Bryan), sons Raymond and Ralph, grandchildren Alanna, Camielle, Jennifer, and Jason, and three great-grandchildren. Friends and family will remember her as fun-loving, hard-working, energetic, and very fond of the “three C’s”: cheesecake, carrot cake, and chocolate. Above all, she was resilient, with strength of character, deep faith, and the ability to handle many difficult circumstances in the 94 years of her life. She will be missed. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday November 17, 2022 at 10AM at St. Genevieve Church, 1225 Bethlehem Pike Flourtown, PA 19031. Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing from 9-10AM at the church. Interment will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
