Bernice D. Zwigaitis, affectionately known as Bonnie, passed away on December 4, 2024, at Normandy Farms Estates in Blue Bell, PA. Born on March 28, 1924, in Philadelphia, she was a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, great grandmother, sister and friend, whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of many.
Bonnie's professional journey began as she supported and worked alongside her husband, Tony, in the tavern business, first in Philadelphia and later in Springfield, Delaware County. Her career took a new direction when she became a legal secretary in Media, PA, where she devoted 20 years of loyal service and fostered lifelong friendships, especially with the younger women she mentored and cared for over the years.
A proud graduate of Hallahan Catholic Girls High School, Bonnie cherished the bonds she formed with her classmates and remained devoted to her Hallahan sorority sisters throughout her life. Their gatherings, often filled with laughter at each other’s homes or at the fantastic restaurants of Philadelphia, brought her immense joy, proving that true friendships can withstand the test of time.
Bonnie's home was always a welcoming place, where family and friends were invited to share in celebrations and everyday moments alike. She thoroughly enjoyed decorating for every holiday, embracing the spirit of festivity and family. In her later years, her grandsons, Rory and Brian, and her great-grandchildren, Brett, Morgan, Quinn, Finley, and Avery, were the light of her life, bringing laughter and smiles with their antics.
Bonnie held numerous proud accomplishments throughout her life beyond her professional career. Her passions included dancing, ice skating, singing in her youth, and painting and gardening in her later years, but the love she had for her children and extended family stood out as her greatest achievement.
She is survived by her beloved daughters, Ellen Seto, Adele Zwigaitis, and Bonnie Ann Heenan, along with her son-in-law, Kevin Heenan, her grandsons, Rory and Brian Heenan, her precious great-grandchildren, Brett, Morgan, Finley, Quinn, Avery, her sister Lillian Sharp, and her many nieces and nephews. She reunites in eternal rest with her devoted husband, Tony, her sister Lenore Roche, and her parents, Vincent and Margaret Dapsis.
The community is invited to pay their respects during the visitation and Mass at St. Helena Church, located at 1489 Dekalb Pike, Blue Bell, PA. The visitation will take place on December 13, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a Mass from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
