Attracta (Missy) Agnes Meenan On Thursday morning, April 15th, the world unexpectedly lost the kindest of souls, Attracta (Missy) Meenan (nee McElroy). Missy was a devoted wife of 34 years to Stephen; loving mother to Patrick and Shane; beloved daughter to the late Charles and Alice McElroy (nee McCullagh); sister to Martin (Pat), Anne and Macartan (Beth); fun-loving aunt to Ryan, Chris, Tim, Conor and Brendan; loving daughter-in-law to Nan; sister-in-law to the Meenan family of Mountfield, Co. Tyrone; her cherished honorary 3rd brother, Frankie; loyal friend Rose; confidant and friend to the many she encountered along her life’s journey. Our beautiful Missy, always with a bright smile and infectious laugh – she will be missed by her clan on both sides of the Pond in the US and Ireland. Attracta was her Father’s “Little Miss” and soon became known to all as Missy. Missy reminded us often that she was May Queen at Seven Dolors elementary school. She was a graduate of the 1977 class at Bishop McDevitt High, where she was a distinguished member of McDevitt’s Marvelous Marchers. She was a proud graduate and alumni of LaSalle University, class of 1981. She worked her way through high school and college at the Acme Markets, and was so crucial to the store at Castor & Wyoming that one morning, the store could not open until Missy showed up with the keys – it was another late night ߘ Of all of her titles and accomplishments on this earth, nothing compared to her most cherished title, Mom. She left the workforce to devote her full time energy to Patrick and Shane. Missy was a constant and favorite volunteer at Holy Martyrs grade school. Her Lunch Mother motto was “We are going outside after lunch, rain or snow!” Her home had an open door and her boys friends were always welcome. She was the Number 1 Fan of her sons’ teams: LaSalle College High School’s Baseball, Rugby, and Basketball teams, and most recently Chestnut Hill College’s Baseball team…Go Griffins! Missy and Stephen logged thousands of miles up and down the East Coast rooting on the teams, especially her boys. Missy was a first generation Irish-American, who spent childhood summers with her cousins in Ireland, and continued to visit when she could. She was so happy as her boys continued the tradition with their extended Irish family – our clan continues to grow. Missy and her three devoted siblings were always close, enjoying their weekly Sunday visits, never apart for too long. She was rarely seen without her loving sister, Anne, the second Mom to Missy’s boys. With her generous kindness and easy smile, Missy always lit up the room – she gained great joy and comfort from the many who crossed her path. We love you Missy! A Celebration of her Life will be held on Friday, April 23rd, at 9:00 am, followed by a Mass Celebrating her Life at 10:00 am, at St Genevieve’s Church, Flourtown, PA. Due to current capacity restrictions, in person attendance for Mass will be family only.
