Theresa C. Rooney

Theresa was born in Germantown, PA, the youngest daughter and fourth child of Elizabeth and Patrick Marron. Her siblings - John, Anna (Mary), Betty, Joseph and Henry formed a close bond. She was a first generation American and attended Immaculate Conception Grade School and Little Flower High School. After marrying John Rooney, she moved to Ardsley, where she lived for 55 years. Always faithful to the Catholic Church, they were founding members of Queen of Peace Parish (look for the Rooney Family window in the Church). Theresa was active in Sodality and volunteered in the Queen of Peace School Library for 35 years. Theresa was a good bowler and loved to play cards, especially pinochle. Seven children John(Kathy), Nancy(Dave Anderson), Theresa(John Nash), Joe(Beth), Tom(Alison), Liz, and Mary(Chris Hoffman), 20 grandkids and 6 great grandkids meant there was always something going on in the Rooney household. Theresa shot a hole -in -one at Alverthorpe Park Golf course. She traveled by cruise ship with the family to Ireland in 1933. She also sailed on the Newly commissions Queen Mary cruise ship from London to New York. Theresa was an amazingly hard worker, really organized, and possessed great inner strength and fortitude. After her children were grown, Theresa and Jack took up square dancing and travelled frequently. They moved to Ann's Choice ten years ago and made many new friends there. Theresa and Jack celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary last November; a testament to their faithful marriage. Theresa's joy was her large extended family; spending time with her twenty grandkids; and hosting large family gatherings. In addition to her husband and children, she was the much loved aunt to many nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday at 10:30AM at Queen of Peace Church 820 North Hills Ave Ardsley, PA 19038. Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing from 9:30-10:30 at the church. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cem. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Queen of Peace Parish at the above address.
